WHO WE ARE vs. WHO WE CLAIM TO BE
THE ROOT CONVERSATION
I imagine a new way of being—
where we all get to be who we really are,
living purpose and joy filled lives.
The only way to end fear, hate and ignorance is love, compassion and understanding. We cannot fight our way to peace or bully our way to happiness. Liberty does not come through imposing our thoughtless will. We will never feel safe if we do not learn to value all life. That we are connected to and dependent on each other is indisputable.
Cooperation isn't about agreeing on everything—just the keys things, like a base way of operating where we all feel safe, inspired and connected. If you compare philosophies the world over, even those rooted in science and logic, we so often say the same things. Because we are standing in our own perspective—tripped up by conditioning, interpretation, even mistakes in language—we imagine a separation that isn't there. And we spend so much time defending our positions. Pretending one thing when feeling another. Reacting.
To stand in the light and see we are not different in the ways that matter, we must be honest with ourselves, and each other. Access listening, looking in, and seeing what we don't want to see. In one way or another, we all close our eyes to what is really happening. It's a natural defense to what occurs as overwhelming, out of our control and just too painful. Yet, when we uncover who we have been and face the impact of our actions, innocent and ignorant, we can chose to uphold our values in the day to day conduct of our lives. We can create a world of intention.
A believer in the exponential power of connection and cooperation, I endeavor to create a safe space where we might step out of our context through authentic sharing and diplomatic conversation. This is not about creating another trend, but a new middle, where we can come together and generate from a higher level of being.
A united philosophy is faceless, ageless and untouchable.
